Antifragility
Most of our fears are no longer linked to physical survival but to our social well-being, our failure, and the emotion of rejection and dealing with something that might go wrong. Everything has to do with the sense of “me” and the fragility of our existence.
Everyone has this feeling. The same feeling can make us more attentive and stronger if we recognize it and move through it with grace.
But that feeling can create stress, no doubt. I started to accept the fear and consider it a positive stressor. I consider it the eustress of our life. Can you have a life without fear? without the fear of losing the ones you love, and what you like? the fear of having an important interview? of losing money? of losing? No, you cannot.
But our mind and body are antifragile. Too much stress creates degeneration, no doubt. But no stress at all creates atrophy. It is not the stress itself the problem but the relationship we have with it. Mark Twain said, “I had a lot of misfortune in my life. Most of them never happened”.
Every time I feel stressed I tell myself: this too shall pass. Yes, this too shall pass my dear. And I offer space, Kindness and gentleness to whatever I touch.
